Tailbone pain
The coccyx is the last part of our spinal column articulating with the sacrum (the back wall of our pelvis)
Causes of Coccydynia:
- Trauma ( fall sitting!)
- Internal trauma: difficult deliveries, bad sitting positions.
- Infections and tumors.
- Unknown.
Symptoms:
- Pain: in thighs near the anus, more on getting up from a seat, more with prolonged sitting, on defecation, or making love.
- Others: Low back pain, depression, tension, insomnia.
General Instructions:
- Practice Walking, side sleeping, hot showering before sleep, and using comfortable clothing.
- Trust that the condition is temporary though annoying.
Treatment options:
- Use seat doughnuts.
- Analgesics
- Anti-constipation meds.
- Cold/ hot compresses (20–30 minutes/ day).
- Acupuncture, TENS
- Surgery.
